Workshops

The creators of The Last Time I Saw Caileigh are proud to offer two workshops, “From Soul to Stage” and “(Not) Real Talk”. These are a way for us to engage with the communities that experience our work, share our way of making, and learn more about the people we aim to reach and represent… that’s you!* They are led by core company member Victoria Sasso, who has extensive teaching and facilitation experience. Victoria holds a Master of Arts in Theatre Lab from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and a BFA in Acting from California State University, Fullerton.

FROM SOUL TO STAGE

Writing/theatre making from a personal perspective.

Participants will be led through a series of free writing and improvisation exercises, culminating in them collaborating with one another to create scenes based on their own lived experiences. This workshop can be booked alongside a performance/run of The Last Time I Saw Caileigh, or independently.

Ages: 15+

Duration: 90-120 minutes depending on group size

(NOT) REAL TALK

Post-show talkback/facilitation.

This space will serve as a facilitation for families of LGBTQIA+ people to talk about gender and sexuality using the language and characters of the show as a touchstone. By speaking about the subject matter within the world of the play, and using those fictional events as examples, rather than their own personal experiences, we will create an environment in which families, chosen or otherwise, can relate to one another without feeling too exposed or vulnerable. This workshop must be booked alongside a performance or run of The Last Time I Saw Caileigh.

Ages: 13+

Duration: 20-45 minutes depending on group size

*Our workshops are priced on a sliding scale and may be offered free to schools or community groups who book a performance(s) of The Last Time I Saw Caileigh. We strongly believe that cost should never be a barrier to access to the arts or arts education. Contact us with information about your group/venue and we will be happy to discuss pricing options.
